The Weevil City Cruisers Car and Truck Club was established in January of 1997 by a group of automobile enthusaists who enjoy camaraderie of others who share the same intrests. The club is open to anyone who wishes to become a memeber; the type of vehicle you own is not important. One of our club's goal is to make the city of Enterprise a better place to live and raise a family. We have given to the community in a variety of ways. One of our main projects is the Brown Bag Program, through which we purchase food for nine individuals for one year. This proved to be so rewarding to us that we continue to support this each year.
Each year since the club's beginning, we have enjoyed collecting food and toys for local charities. Starting the first week in November and continuing through December, canned food is collected at Dairy Queen and donated to local charities for distribution to families in our community. In conjunction with this program, the club holds a Christmas Toy Cruise each year. Memebers of car clubs from the surrounding areas are invited to join the Weevil City Cruisers for a drive around Enterprise. Each participant donates a new toy, which is then distributed by local charities to those who may not otherwise receive Christmas toys.
The club has also donated to individuals who where in need as well as many other organizations such as; Enterprise Police Department K9 team, Enterprise High School Automotive Vocation department, and Enterprise State Junior College. Enterprise DARE Program, Christian Mission, Department of Human Resources, People to People program (Student Exchange), and Cancer Research are groups to whom we make yearly donations to.
Our main fundraiser for the year takes place during the Piney Woods Arts Festival, which is held on the campus of Enterprise-Ozark Community College (EOCC) each year. The club hosts the Weevil City Car and Truck Show. This weekend gathering brongs visitors into the city, many who spend the weekend in local hotels. We usually have over a 100 entrants. The mony raised during the show is the springboard for our yearly donations to the organizations and individuals previously mentioned.
We look forward to many more years of enjoying and helping the Wiregrass Community!!!
